HI LIGHT exhibition was held in Jerusalem Municipal Art Gallery, 17 Jaffa Road,

September - November, 2017.

HI LIGHT is a collaborative exhibition between eight artists from different parts of the world: Karmela Berg from Israel,  Leny van Elk and Arjan Moscoviter from The Netherlands, Anneli Nilson from Sweden,  Pirjo Heino, Pirjo Partanen and Katri Aintila from Finland and  Karola Teschler from Germany.

LIGHT has had great importance in art. Artists are inspired and have long  been experimenting with the interplay of light and dark.

By adding black or white to a color in two dimensional art, the use of light can help create an illusion of added mass or shape to painted objects. The influence of photography and new technology is an important aspect in the modern art of light.

HI LIGHT exhibition lays emphasis on diverse ways and different views of regarding the concept of “Light”.

"Woman Power" is an outdoor exhibition in Hovinkartano, Finland.

All of the works were made out of objects found in the farm during the residency.

Waterfall-

I started my video art (9 minutes long) in the north of the country, relatively rich with springs and reservoirs, as I traveled south to the arid salt plain of the Dead Sea, I saw how the diminishing of water affects people and nature. During the different stops of this journey, I placed environmental installations, each time showing the state and changes of nature.
EARTH Effects:
My installation “TENTS” is a dialog between the spiritual and physical richness of our EARTH. The Six Tents are representing the different aspects of Earth: Cycles, Minerals, Water, Flora, Fauna and People. The riches of nature bestow us life. EARTH is giving us so much. We need to give back and protect all this richness for future generations. It is difficult to diminish the utmost importance of water to humanity and the significance of its cumulative deficit to the future development of the entire world.

I believe in the power of Art to deliver a message and raise awareness in various fashions. I searched for artists in countries where water exists in abundance with the prospect of working together and attempting to present this pressing issue from various perspectives. In a general call, international artists have been invited to donate digital images of water in its many forms. We received images from 80 participating artists. The art celebrates new world order, where borders are porous, communication instantaneous and artists can use new advance technology. Artists are invited to step outside their solitary studio practice and join force to embrace collaboration in art of the future.

“LIGHT” is a collaborative exhibition between six artists from Holland, Israel, Sweden, Spain and the USA.  

Light has had great importance in art from Greek and Roman sculptures and architecture to Renaissance and Baroque paintings, and up to modern technology in today’s art.

Artists have long been experimenting with the interplay of light and dark. For centuries they have understood the benefits of painting with north light, which has enabled to produce the greatest paintings in history.

By adding black or white to a color in two dimensional arts the use of light can help create an illusion of added mass or shape to the painted objects.

Artists in the 60’s have been experimenting with light as material and subject: light installations, Bauhaus architecture, motion pictures, photography, kinetic and light fields and projections on outdoor objects. Minimalism and Op artists, such as Dan Flavin and Francois Morellet, have created interior sculptures and installations using diverse types of light. Likewise, James Turrell, Robert Irwin and Bruce Nauman in California in 1966.

Our group comprises a long line of artists who experiment with light in their art.

This exhibition lays emphasis on diverse ways and different views of regarding the concept “Light”.

The exhibition consists of painting, installation, Video Art  and photography.

The poem by Gerardo Fontanes , a painter and a poet gives us a glimpse to the importance of LIGHT in an artist’s- work.

EVEnt

EVEnt exhibition is a collaboration between 10 artists from different parts of the world. 

Being women in the 21st Century is our story to tell.

Our project sheds light on the different views regarding social and personal questions about the situation of women, in a modern society, at times conformist and traditional.

The participating artists are Miriam Ewers, Shira Toren, Kim Sillen, LaThoriel Badenhausen and Kim Alemian (USA), Karmela Berg (Israel) who is also the curator, Rido Jansen and Thea Zweerink (Netherlands), Margalit Berriet (France) and Sigrid Hynell Fleischer (Sweden).

The exhibition consists of painting, prints, installations, sculptures and photography.

EVEnt One in 2015 was invited to be the center group in Huntenkunst Contemporary Art Fair and in Galerie bij de Boeken, Ulft, The Netherlands.
