Waterfall-

I started my video art (9 minutes long) in the north of the country, relatively rich with springs and reservoirs, as I traveled south to the arid salt plain of the Dead Sea, I saw how the diminishing of water affects people and nature. During the different stops of this journey, I placed environmental installations, each time showing the state and changes of nature.
EARTH Effects:
My installation “TENTS” is a dialog between the spiritual and physical richness of our EARTH. The Six Tents are representing the different aspects of Earth: Cycles, Minerals, Water, Flora, Fauna and People. The riches of nature bestow us life. EARTH is giving us so much. We need to give back and protect all this richness for future generations. It is difficult to diminish the utmost importance of water to humanity and the significance of its cumulative deficit to the future development of the entire world.

I believe in the power of Art to deliver a message and raise awareness in various fashions. I searched for artists in countries where water exists in abundance with the prospect of working together and attempting to present this pressing issue from various perspectives. In a general call, international artists have been invited to donate digital images of water in its many forms. We received images from 80 participating artists. The art celebrates new world order, where borders are porous, communication instantaneous and artists can use new advance technology. Artists are invited to step outside their solitary studio practice and join force to embrace collaboration in art of the future.

Hi Light 2017 (The Netherlands)

“LIGHT” is a collaborative exhibition between six artists from Holland, Israel, Sweden, Spain and the USA.  

Light has had great importance in art from Greek and Roman sculptures and architecture to Renaissance and Baroque paintings, and up to modern technology in today’s art.

Artists have long been experimenting with the interplay of light and dark. For centuries they have understood the benefits of painting with north light, which has enabled to produce the greatest paintings in history.

By adding black or white to a color in two dimensional arts the use of light can help create an illusion of added mass or shape to the painted objects.

Artists in the 60’s have been experimenting with light as material and subject: light installations, Bauhaus architecture, motion pictures, photography, kinetic and light fields and projections on outdoor objects. Minimalism and Op artists, such as Dan Flavin and Francois Morellet, have created interior sculptures and installations using diverse types of light. Likewise, James Turrell, Robert Irwin and Bruce Nauman in California in 1966.

Our group comprises a long line of artists who experiment with light in their art.

This exhibition lays emphasis on diverse ways and different views of regarding the concept “Light”.

The exhibition consists of painting, installation, Video Art  and photography.

The poem by Gerardo Fontanes , a painter and a poet gives us a glimpse to the importance of LIGHT in an artist’s- work.

EVEnt

EVEnt exhibition is a collaboration between 10 artists from different parts of the world. 

Being women in the 21st Century is our story to tell.

Our project sheds light on the different views regarding social and personal questions about the situation of women, in a modern society, at times conformist and traditional.

The participating artists are Miriam Ewers, Shira Toren, Kim Sillen, LaThoriel Badenhausen and Kim Alemian (USA), Karmela Berg (Israel) who is also the curator, Rido Jansen and Thea Zweerink (Netherlands), Margalit Berriet (France) and Sigrid Hynell Fleischer (Sweden).

The exhibition consists of painting, prints, installations, sculptures and photography.

EVEnt One in 2015 was invited to be the center group in Huntenkunst Contemporary Art Fair and in Galerie bij de Boeken, Ulft, The Netherlands.

כרמלה ברג / שחר מרקוס    Knowing me Knowing you

לפנינו מפגש הכרות בין שני אמנים היוצרים, מתוך עולמם הפנימי, עם כוונה רצינית לתיקון חברתי. ההכרות עם מגירות הנפש של כרמלה ברג ושל שחר מרקוס היא כביכול, הסיבה להתהוותה של התערוכה, הכוללת יצירות בתחומי הציור, התלת ממד, ההדפס, הצילום והוידיאו ארט, החושפת את צפונות היוצרים.

השונה והמשותף בין עולמם של ברג ומרקוס יוצר מתח דרמטי המורגש בין המוצגים בחלל מכון המים. כרמלה ברג הנה אמנית ותיקה המתחקרת הוויות חברתיות, יוזמת פרויקטים ומשתפת אמנים-יוצרים מרחבי תבל בעלי אורינטציה קהילתית וקונספט משותף. שחר מרקוס, לעומתה,  הנו אמן מיצג, הפועל מתוך עולמו הפנימי ותוך התיחסות למקום, טובל בעבודותיו קורטובים של הומור ושנינה, ומחבר בין מרקמי חומרים ומזון.

התערוכה מציגה מפגש אקראי כמעט הקורא לצופה ללמוד על ההכרות והחיבור בין שני האמנים, שהציגו תחת קורת גג אחת בפרויקט אמנות בהולנד,    משתפים פעולה במפגש שיכול להראות לצופים כאקראי ובכל זאת הצופים נקראים לפענח את סוד החיבור ביניהם. כך יתאפשר לצופים להכיר גם הם את האמנים ויצירתם, ואולי תוך כדי תהליך זה להכיר יותר טוב גם את עצמם.

שמה של התערוכה בתרגום חופשי "להכיר אותי להכיר אתכם" הנו כמו שמו של השיר הידוע של הלהקה המיתולוגית ״אבבא״ השבדית. יש בכותרת זו התייחסות פרקטית לחיים אך גם משמעות מיסטית. לכרמלה ברג עולם אישי פנימי, המצוי במתח וקונפליקט ובנוי על מצרפי פורטרטים הבונים שלמות רעיונית בשפה תלת ממדית. שלושת המיצבים שהיא מציגה בתערוכה, לרבות המיצב העשוי מעשרים וארבעה תמונות מחיי האישה הארוגות במעשה קווילט, מתארים לדבריה, את מעגלי חייה ופעילותה. שחר מרקוס, בן למשפחת פרדסנים מפתח תקווה, מעבד בשפת המיצג הכל כך אישית שלו את מונח הפרדס, אשר במקורות המסורת שלנו מהוה אלגוריה ליהדות ומנהגיה.

לשני האמנים התייחסות למונחים גשמיים פרקטיים בעלי קשר אמיתי וישיר להוויה ריאליסטית והיא הופכת, בתהליך היצירה, לבעלת משמעויות אמנותיות חידתיות. שחר מרקוס התייחס בעבודותיו בעבר לתפוז הישראלי, שסימל במידת מה את האתוס הציוני כסממן מקומי טיפוסי, אשר סמלייותו נותצה והתפוררה לאחרונה. כרמלה ברג, שיצרה תרגום אמנותי לספריהם של עמוס עוז ודליה רביקוביץ', שני סמנים מובילים בתרבות הישראלית, מאפשרת ללמוד על דעותיה וביקורתה על סביבתנו והקורה בה דרך עבודותיה.

הצופה בתערוכה מוזמן,  כאמור, להכיר את האמנים ואת עצמו באמצעות התערוכה.
